Your business book marketing adventure starts here

Join Autholio, the community where business book authors get their book marketing done, side by side.

Welcome to Autholio - what is it and what’s inside?

Community, practical guidance, and accountability - without your business book marketing taking over your life.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • You've written your book, have lots of ideas for marketing, but don’t know what to do first.

  • You're doing bits of marketing here and there, but nothing feels joined up

  • You know your book could be doing more for your business, but you're just not sure how

  • You're figuring business book marketing out alone, and it's slow and a bit lonely

  • You can't justify marketing agency fees, but you don't want to just guess your way through it

  • The generic book marketing advice you’ve seen doesn't fit a business book author like you

  • You've found plenty of advice, programmes, and blueprints out there, but you have no idea who to trust or whether any of it actually applies to you

If any of that sounds familiar, you'll already know there is so much you could do to promote your book. It's often overwhelming, time-consuming, or too costly. Maybe all 3!

So why Autholio?

Working with authors one-to-one, a few things became clear.

Book marketing isn't a straight-line route on a map. You plan, yes, but once you start, it gets more like an adventure. You head down side-tracks, occasionally double back, sometimes feel genuinely lost, and once in a while stumble on an unexpectedly beautiful view. That's just the reality of book marketing.

It also works far better when you start planning it early, before the book is finished and sitting there with that persistent little pebble in your hiking boot, the one that keeps reminding you the marketing is still waiting to be done.

Many authors want to understand their book marketing well enough to do it themselves or hand some of it off to a VA. They want it to fit around their life and work, and not become a second job.

And although your book marketing is your own adventure, none of us has to do it alone. The people who travel some of the way alongside you, and the guidance you get from others who have experiences to share, valuable knowledge of the path, shortcuts, and where not to go… these are what make the experience memorable. And maybe worth writing another book about!

That's what Autholio was created to help you with.

Your book. Your audience. Business magic.

Autholio is the community where business book authors figure out how to get their books in front of their audience and integrate them into their business to create business magic. This looks different for every member as everyone's book, business, and ideal client combination is unique to them. So we work individually but come together for accountability, practical support, and community.

Think of it as the business book marketing equivalent of The Explorers Club: a place to plan your next expedition, get guidance from people who've already travelled those roads and byways, share the highs and get support with the lows, and tell your tales of discovery and bookish adventure to people who completely get it.

Autholio is here to help you

  • Get your book marketing done.

When others are expecting you to show up, it's amazing how much easier it is to lace up your boots and head out.

  • Join authors who are your people

get your marketing done alongside other authors who are positive, practical, and who completely understand what you're building.

  • Make book marketing a marketing activity, not a full time job

Book marketing will become a business task that fits around your life and becomes a sustainable part of how you work.

  • Make better decisions with less effort

Someone in the room has usually already been down that path and knows which bits are worth it and what/who to avoid.

  • Introduce people to your business using your book

Your book becomes a door to visibility, opportunity, and business growth.

  • Stay on track

Each month has one clear focus, an essential waymarker on the book marketing route. You go deeper into one crucial aspect of book marketing, building knowledge and taking action.

  • Make measurable progress

Steady and sustainable is the whole point. Setting off at a pace you can keep going for miles, without having to sit down after the first hill.

  • Have people rooting for you to succeed

Hard moments are easier when you're not having them alone. Someone else has been lost on that path too, and probably has a good story about it.

  • Have a book where the last page is the beginning for future new clients, not 'The End'

Your book keeps opening doors long after publication. Step through one and find another waiting, just like the best adventures.

Every great adventure story doesn't just have fellow travellers. There's always a guide, too.

Meet Your Guide

Hi, I’m Sally

I'm a business book marketing specialist and your guide for the adventure ahead.

I help business book authors build their audience of readers and make their book work for their business. There's one mountain to climb, but everyone's route up it looks different depending on who they are, what they enjoy, and what they want their book to do.

When I work with business book authors, I listen first and tailor everything to where they are and what they want their book to do. The goal is always to make the process feel manageable, keep things moving, and free authors up to focus on their writing, business, and lives

When I'm not working with business book authors, I'm at my happiest walking, rockpooling, and reading (of course!). And also, that’s when I have my best book marketing ideas.

In Autholio, there'll be plenty of peer input. But every group also needs a guide. I host each session to keep things on track, offer advice and signpost additional resources, and gently keep authors accountable.

WHAT'S INSIDE AUTHOLIO

Autholio is not a course to work through or a programme to follow. It's a community whose heartbeat of activity creates a community rhythm - regular times alongside community discussions where you'll find other members (and me!), doing their book marketing work together.

Live weekly sessions, a monthly welcome for new members, and regular extra sessions for planning, book discussion, and connecting - see the full schedule in the FAQs here.

Adventure of the Month

There's one business book marketing topic to focus on each month, so members can delve deeper, get their questions answered, and get real work done on it.

We're starting by focusing on three main areas where business book authors consistently get stuck:

  • Growing your audience: finding and reaching the readers your book is actually for

  • Standing out clearly: knowing what makes your book stand out, and being able to say it clearly

  • Turning readers into business opportunities: what happens after someone finishes your book, and how that becomes visibility, leads, or income for your business

Community Discussion Spaces

Join in the group discussions any time with:

  • Introductions

  • Adventure of the Month - Group Marketing Topic/Focus

  • What are you working on - marketing accountability

  • ‘Help! I'm stuck’

  • Wins & successes

  • Book Corner - our quarterly ‘Book Corner’ read

  • General chat

What Autholio Isn't

There's plenty of free advice out there on marketing a book, and it's worth reading. But it tends to tell you what to do without ever quite explaining how to do it, or where to go when you get stuck on it. Autholio picks up where that free advice runs out, with practical book marketing support, accountability, and community.

And it isn't a course or a programme with modules to complete. It's a community: a place to come and do the actual work, in the company of other business book authors doing the same thing, for as long as you need it.

There are also some excellent agencies and high-ticket programmes out there that’ll do your book marketing with you, or for you. Done well, that's exactly the right fit for some authors and some circumstances. Autholio isn't that kind of offer. It's for authors who want to understand their own book marketing, do the work themselves (or hand pieces of it to a VA), and keep it as a sustainable part of running their business, not a fully outsourced project or a second job.

There are some things we simply don't do here. We don't help you write your book, design your cover, format it, or upload it to publishing platforms. If you need that kind of help, we'll happily point you toward the right people for it.

When Should Business Book Marketing Start?

My answer is always the same: now.

Like planting a tree, the best time was yesterday, and the second-best time is today.

So where do YOU start?

Choose Your Book Marketing Adventure

You’re writing & editing

The 100% best time to start marketing a business book is at concept and during early writing.

Weaving the marketing foundations into the writing process is like finding the river that waters the whole valley. It feeds everything downstream.

Your future readers, your message, and your business goals flow naturally through the book and its marketing, nourishing the whole thing from the inside out.

And that makes everything that follows so much easier.

You’re preparing to publish

If publication day is on the horizon, now is the time to act.

Getting everything in place in the run-up to publication, deploying it at the right moments, and then celebrating publication should feel like setting off on a bright, cloud-free morning, climbing a massive mountain, and feeling the thrill and excitement at the view from the summit.

If you are in this phase, you should have your marketing map and know how to use it, your marketing assets should be created, your systems should be in place, and everything should be moving smoothly. The summit is in sight.

You’re post publishing

If you published, but you feel like your book fell down a ravine, this is exactly the right time to start.

Many people find themselves here and you are definitely not alone.

What's needed now is a fresh plan and a new quest: to make your book work properly for your business. It's not too late!

Starting now is so much more rewarding for you personally and for your business than leaving your book, like a lone walking pole forgotten by a stile.
